In the quiet of our being, amongst the
adversity, experiences, & identities,
there is embodied wholeness.
I support you in reclaiming that awareness,
and allowing it to guide your expression into moment-to-moment reality.

What exactly do I do

I help people do or achieve whatever they want (ethically). Small goals/big goals. Some people feel intense feelings of grandeur, with life-changing decisions on the line. Others have yet to find their purpose or meaning in life and would like to do so. Some people just need a small tweak but don’t know where. Some feel hopeless, overwhelmed, unsure, fearful, and would like not to feel that way. Some are fearless leaders who just need direction, empowerment, a spark, or seeking to be more in alignment with something.

I help people uncover patterns about their lives. I facilitate the conditions that allow people to discover what they already know but have not yet been able to see or articulate. I recognize and target blind-spots with tenderness, care, and precision. I am a highly curious, systems-oriented, pattern-sensing, integrative thinker who leans towards logical/rational frameworks. I connect ideas across disciplines, while also valuing the unknown, the spiritual, the lightheartedness, and especially, autonomy & self-preservation.

The word “clear” in the English language has two very distinct meanings; 1) making something unintelligible into something understandable, and
2) going from opaque to see-through. I create clarity in these ways. I create visibility/transparency.
Both have a way of “illuminating” our lives.

The modalities I use in practice are listed in the “offering & services” section below.

Rest in your stillness

Trust the quiet current of your intuition to guide your movement & expression.

  • Witness & Release

Move with and through the suffering.
We slow down and create space to gently observe what’s been hidden or suppressed. Through compassionate witnessing and somatic processing, we uncover patterns, blocks, and beliefs that keep us bound, simply noticing the instinct to react. When we meet our inner world with curiosity, grace, and honesty, what no longer serves can finally release, opening the door to unknown potential.

    Trust & Remember

Beyond seeking lies a deeper knowing.
You already know. Trust you are being guided back to yourself. Beneath the noise and the searching is a deep remembering, a longing to reawaken. Gently peel back the layers to reveal your full expression, your song waiting to be heard. Not only by others, but by you as well. Through mindful presence, reflection, and attunement, one creates space for the answers already living within to come forward. A soft homecoming.

    Embody & Create

    Your life is the practice.
Every moment is part of your unfolding path. Explore the architecture of your inner world so you can begin to see every emotion & challenge as an integral part of your structure. Shift how you relate to experience itself, so that creation flows from presence, not from perfection or striving. When we embody this awareness, even our hardest moments become portals for growth.

    Integrate & Illuminate

Be the living expression of your realization.
Insights alone don’t change us. Integration is where the transformation really takes form. Through years of supporting others in the aftermath of grief, trauma, major life transitions, psychedelic journeys, energetic phenomena, & spiritual emergencies, I’ve come to see integration as critical work. Together, we bring what is fragmented into wholeness, from unprocessed pain to unclaimed power.

“What if I’m not meant to be happy or at peace?”

This is a question I’ve heard in a variety of ways. To this, I would say that profound contentment, creative flow, or “positive” mental qualities in general are not exclusively reserved for a select few in this world who have the privilege; it’s an opportunity knocking at everyone’s proverbial door. What life asks of us is to listen so deeply that we can sense what & when we are being called to let go, resist, or change. We have the opportunity to embrace the full spectrum of humanity in a way that brings immense resolution to primal questions such as:

– What/who am I?
– What is my purpose?
– What is the nature of reality?
– What is the reason for anything?
– and, what do I truly need in this moment?

I support people on this journey knowing how illusive our paths can be & how uncertain the journey can become.

What is my approach to this work?

*Language can be both limiting and unifying. If I felt regretful at all during the process of creating this website, it was realizing how the limitations of language and the historical context of certain words would naturally create separation or disconnect among readers. Please excuse any perceptions or interpretations I’ve created in the mind of anyone reading this, as my intention when writing this entire “About” section was simply to express; you will hear and see what you need to receive.

– Several years ago at the age of 30, I experienced an energetic phenomenon, which I refer to by: my defining event, my initial awakening, my arrival, or a spiritual emergence/emergency.. I was sitting in bed one day with my dog & my cat during Winter Storm Uri in Austin, TX, trying to regulate my anxiety when the event began. This awakening occurred in a moment where I was caring for myself more intentionally than I ever had before, and I was practicing gratitude vigorously. About two hours later, I “woke up” to a vastly different life than I had known before. Instead of just experiencing life, I was witnessing reality in a way I never knew possible, though something familiar and comforting about it. And because my foundation is built around logic & rationality, medical/scientific frameworks, and trauma-informed care, my work organically pivoted towards creating supportive systems for people experiencing phenomena spanning the full breadth and depth of humanity, including those outside of culturally accepted paradigms.

– I don’t see the work I do as something I can take credit for. It’s something that moves through me, a force shaped by the cycles of life, the wisdom of the Earth, all of the people who’ve influenced me, and the unseen. Some may call it spirit, source, God, or a variety of other words. I’m grateful to be a vehicle for this flow. And also, I take ownership of how I show up; my choices, my impact, and the emotions/stories that make up my life.

– My journey at the intersection of diversity and lived experience informs and inspires this work. So do the tireless voices that never stopped calling for change. I show up to this space as a student and a conduit of our ancestors, a vehicle of the collective consciousness and unconsciousness. As someone who has served on the front lines working directly with our most marginalized communities, supporting emergency response initiatives, and getting into good trouble. A servant of all life, who also is completely okay with upsetting a room of people; discomfort within the window of tolerance is fertile ground for growth, and even though our ancestors may not have had that option, we get to heal in community while continuing to honor the people and the work that came before us. And let us not worry about tracking mud on someone’s carpet. It may lead them to discover the cracks in their foundation.

– Based on my own experience and in observation of pretty much everyone I know, we all seem to be on different parts of a similar path, having an entire shared experience with similar phenomena throughout our lives. This is my reason for sharing a variety of services. These offerings are based on parts of my journey that were so influential in my life, I wanted to train in them and learn how to share them with others. They were like stepping-stones to the next chapter in my story. Life is a constant waking up to the subtleties that make up existence. Like zooming out on a camera lens and adjusting the aperture to slowly make the image more inclusive and clear.

– One can intuitively “know” about something. But if you only know a blueberry by name and not by taste, you’re simply giving lip service to the idea of a blueberry. This is how I view presence and consciousness. It is apparent that many people only have a general idea of what it means to be present or conscious. The current socially accepted paradigm of consciousness and “reality” is limiting, and ripe for personal liberation and collective transcendence.

– We arrive at what cannot be spoken. Only lived.

BIG “ALSO“: Never forget that playfulness is an incredibly powerful catalyst for self-work. Everything I’ve written on this page so far has undertones of compassion, resolution, and sincerity. However, this thought right <here> was made to ground me, my work, this website, and yourself into SACRED PLAY.
It is a reminder and an invitation to:
– loosen the jaw & drop the shoulders
– notice your breath
– feel your body & surroundings
– wiggle those lil toesies

– and SKAKE THAT AZZ!

Get curious with it. Laugh about yourself.

Be intentional about embracing that silly little goose inside you. Gently coax it out of its silly little hidey-hole. Come on out, little winged creature, spread your silly little wings already. They are beautiful wings.

Have you ever seen it? When someone spreads their wings? You just watch them soar. You watch them fly.

Healing is not a monolith.
Sorry not sorry, my fundamentalist friends.
MEOW.

Who do I serve?

I work with anyone curious enough to explore. Seekers of all kinds. All of you is/are welcome here.

While this work is for everyone, my heart holds a deep well of compassion for those at the layered intersection of humanity and universal suffering. Any and all transient experiences; this is because of you. My path has lived at these crossroads and I’ve come to understand that true healing doesn’t bypass reality; it honors the full spectrum. This work is an offering to the world in reverence of our human experience. I am here in service to all life.

I’ve walked through the fire of spiritual language that felt disconnected from lived struggle. I know the cognitive dissonance, the nervous system dysregulation, the complete exhaustion that shows up in spaces that perpetuate systemic inequity, or imbalance in general.

You are not a voice echoing down empty halls.
You are not alone in your becoming.
You are the arrival.
You fill in the _____.

Offerings & Services

Altru-Activism
This is conscious service from the inside out. One that is rooted in self-remembrance & devoted the collective. Transformative & restorative justice all the way down to the root. This is my offer to you; a minimal footprint/low-consumption path to activating your internal power grid, so that you may be a source of energy, community, creativity, connection, healing, peace, abundance, and much more, for yourself and for others. The world we’re calling in won’t come alive until it’s realized from within. Altru-Activism is the container of my practice, which includes:

End of Life Care
I have been in caregiver roles throughout my time as a social service worker, as well as in my friendships, relationships, and family. At the time of creating this website, I have walked alongside my aging parents as caregiver for almost 2 years during this sacred time in their lives. Aside from that, I have extensive experience with supporting grieving individuals & families during these significant transitions. I am a steward of mental and spiritual care, supported by a lifetime of intentional devotion to body, mind, & spirit. I not only provide compassionate bedside care to individuals & family members preparing for end-of-life, I also provide assistance navigating medical needs, hospice care, insurance concerns, legal documentation (including securing assets/estate planning). End-of-life care offers both practical relief for loved ones, a dignified and compassionate space for the person transitioning, and honors the spiritual depth of aging & our mortality.

Cost of offerings/services

*The majority of services are offered on a gift-based/sliding scale, honoring accessibility and reciprocity.

I am of the mind that healing has become commodified into a business, one that can be expensive based on those who restrict access to healing through financial ability. I am just as happy to place a value on my sessions as I am to offer them on a donation or sliding-scale system. I believe a reason that healing is a business is because we lost the ability to do that for each other as family and friends. However, I also believe that money also has the ability to reveal and heal us, much more in the way we relate to money versus how we use it. In this way, I will continue in my efforts of decentralizing these healing practices and redistributing to communities with financial barriers. Support of any kind is welcome.

My Story

For all practical purposes, I am Esteban Olave.
This is my virtual space.

My story is similar to many others. I created an identity around my experiences and circumstances early on. As time passed, certain aspects improved, while others worsened or stayed relatively neutral. Somewhere in those early years I was developing awareness of nuanced facets of my internal and external world, beginning to internalize the perceptions and beliefs that would influence and shape the person I’ve become and continue to grow into.

Like a traveler passing through vast terrain and unexpected turns, I’ve been shaped by infinite micro-moments, subtle yet significant, scattered across time and space. Along the way, certain pivotal shifts have emerged in my life, like mountain peaks, offering me clarity or uncertainty for the next leg of my journey.

From an early age, fear had naturally been instilled into me, passed down as a survival mechanism which served many generations before me well. The protection and environmental awareness I gained from that upbringing has shaped a large part of my early life, including all of the unnecessary suffering I created for myself and others.

However, just as one might leave a raft behind after crossing a stream, I too have continued on my path with a sense of non-grasping and willingness to travel onward when life asked this of me.

That primal fear had been surviving and thriving in every part of my being for a long time, and created a lifetime of conditions and experiences I would not wish on anyone. However, it was not my fear. And as I became more aware of this conditional fear, I began to intentionally seek out opportunities to illuminate my subconscious world and integrate my past.

For clarity, I was not trying to distance myself from this fear, suffering, or pessimism; I just realized these qualities had actually been the catalysts in the search to improve my human experience and support my communities.

I’ve always gravitated towards understanding life beyond the surface. There’s a natural and playful curiosity that lives there. And I appreciate being guided to moments of insight and revelation, like breadcrumbs on a trail.

My path diverged from the generational trajectory my family had been heading towards. And in a way, I know my path didn’t really diverge or go away from anything; it’s been following a thread of interdependent moments that connect all of us since the beginning of time.

I am grateful for the way service work found me. For the way it is me at my core. My life is the service and the impact.

~ Words that resonate deep within and remind me of where I come from, where my vibration begins and ends. ~

Background & Training

My most enduring teachers have been life itself through lived experience, self-reflection, the internet, preserved writing, and the wisdom woven into interactions that unfolded with clever-curious souls along the way.

My formal educational background includes:

The Cosmic Joke

Musings on contemplation, consciousness, & the mechanism by which reality is “created”

For most of my life, I believed that I was simply experiencing my reality. Eventually I started noticing the nuance of how reality was “happening” to me.

Life happened.

People happened.

Pain happened.

Loss happened.

Circumstances happened.
Even breathing seemed to just “happen.”

My reactions felt automatic because they seemed justified by what was occurring around me.

As humans, we identify with language such as “this is my life” or “I am breathing,” continuously substantiating a permanent and stable self experiencing something separate.

This is just one subtle example of how everything including experience itself, creates duality. This is not a flaw, there is nothing wrong with the way reality presents in this way. It is just an observation.

Viewing life in this dualistic way is just another adaptive feature our consciousness has developed over time, and it has served us well in our quest for survival. (For consciousness’s self-perpetuating evolution towards “knowing” itself.)

Duality is to embrace our existence.

The aim is not to rid ourselves of this view or experience through contemplative practice, but to become aware of the mechanism that even creates an “aim” to begin with. I would go even further to say that the aim naturally becomes embracing the full spectrum of this human experience, without effort.

We experience many realizations throughout life. Some change how experience is understood, interpreted, or explained. I refer to these as interpretive awakenings.

Interpretive awakenings can bring clarity, insight, shifts in identity, and may extend into experiences of emptiness, impermanence, no-self, or a sense that the path has become pathless. They often answer the question, “What is happening?”

Ontological awakenings operate at a deeper level. Rather than changing the interpretation of experience, they alter the structure through which experience is known. They often appear surprisingly ordinary and can feel less like discovering an answer and more like seeing that the question that motivated all of this never needed an answer.

Interpretive awakening answers, “What is happening?”
Ontological awakening settles, “What is happening made of?”

We awaken deeper by experiencing our lives. Until we realize there was nothing to wake up to, no one that could wake up. And then that realization “deepens”.

Somehow, this provides us with a deep sense of having woken up to a full, raw “experience” of our lives.

Meditation gradually revealed something I had never considered; the reality I was experiencing was not separate from the way I was participating in it.

We are life.
Life is everything.
Life is even death.
Life is even “nothing”.

There is something so simple about it. I can’t quite describe it using words such as “profound” or “beautiful,” because that would impose upon the traditional concept and non-experience of “nothingness.” It is often a trap however, to fall into solipsism or nihilism. It would be wise then to investigate the Dharmic idea of “emptiness” and see how the purpose of path is not annihilation, but to arrive fully as you are in every moment.

This realization did not arrive as a belief.

It arrived through thousands of hours spent observing the moment-to-moment unfolding of experience.

Breath.

Sensations.

Thoughts.

Emotions.

Attention.

Memory.

Identity.

Over time, something became painfully obvious. Human beings do not just perceive or experience reality. We participate in its construction.

We are the participation, the construction, and the result. Our actions have real-world consequences that we must deal with and take ownership for.

I would go as far as to say that we choose the way our reality presents itself, however unconscious it may be.

The fact that it is not typically a conscious choice, is not relevant here. We are not usually afforded this sort of meta-insight in our normal waking life, nor at the beginning of meditative path.

Therefore, the challenge and opportunity that presents itself to us, is that we must develop the capacity to notice how we actively make the choice/decision.

Every experience is conditioned by previous experiences.
Every interpretation is conditioned by previous interpretations.
Every reaction emerges from countless prior reactions.

Even our perception of what consciousness is and how we experience it, is conditioned.

What we call “reality” is inseparable from the preferences, assumptions, fears, hopes, habits, memories, and conditioning through which it is filtered.

The process happens so quickly that it appears solid. Permanent. Objective. Self-evident.

Meditative practice slows this process down enough for it to become visible.

A thought appears.

A sensation appears.

A mental impression appears.

An emotion appears.

A preference appears.

The mind moves toward what it wants and away from what it does not want.

Meaning is created.

Identity forms.

The experience of “me” appears.

The experience of “other” appears.

A world emerges.~

The deeper practice became, the less interested I was in changing experience and the more interested I grew in understanding how experience itself was being produced.

How does a sensation become suffering?

How does a memory become identity?

How does a preference become reality?

How does a thought become a self?

These questions eventually led me beyond meditation as a form of stress reduction, wellness, or self-improvement.

They led into ontology.

The study of what exists.

They led into phenomenology.

The study of how experience appears.

They led into direct investigation of consciousness itself.

~

Much of human life revolves around state-seeking.

We seek security.

Connection.

Recognition.

Purpose.

Money.

Health.

Healing.

Understanding.

Even spiritual practice can become another expression of this movement.

A self attempting to become a better self.

A self attempting to awaken.

A self attempting to arrive somewhere.

What becomes visible through contemplative practice is that this movement is often what perpetuates the sense of separation we are trying to resolve.

The mind continuously creates a future in which something important will finally happen.

A future version of ourselves will be more complete.

More healed.

More successful.

More awake.

More worthy.

Attention becomes organized around “becoming”.

The immediacy of experience is overlooked.

The moment is converted into a means toward some imagined destination.

Meditation has repeatedly invited me back to a simpler question:

What is happening before the story?

Before interpretation.

Before identity.

Before preference.

Before the assumption that this experience means something about me.
What is happening before all of the meaning-making systems do what they do best?

This investigation reveals a strange paradox.

The self appears real enough to function.

It appears real enough to work, love, grieve, create, serve, and participate in the world.

Yet when examined closely, it cannot be located as a fixed entity. It appears as an ongoing process.

A collection of sensations, perceptions, memories, thoughts, habits, and conditioned tendencies interacting moment by moment.

The same is true for much of what we call reality.

Everything appears through conditions.

Everything depends on other things.

Everything is participating in everything else.

Nothing exists independently.

This has been an observation that continues to deepen through practice, versus a philosophical position.

As a social worker, caregiver, meditator, and student of the human experience, I have become increasingly interested in the places where personal psychology, collective conditioning, contemplative practice, spirituality, and direct experience intersect.

Many of us spend our lives attempting to heal our pain while remaining unaware of the mechanisms through which that pain is continuously recreated. It is only natural to pathologize our lives.

Many of us spend years searching for answers while never examining the assumptions hidden within the questions and perceptions themselves.

Meditation is a framework/lens that can be applied to anything we do. As much as it is a formal, structured practice, it is more simply just directing the mind towards intentional awareness.

In this way, meditation is more palpable and offers a unique opportunity. Unless you enjoy applying a hardcore fitness mindset to meditation.

Either way, it allows us to observe the machinery.

To notice how preferences shape perception.

How identities are constructed.

How stories solidify.

How suffering perpetuates itself.

While it may unintentionally happen given a person’s proclivities, tendencies, or predispositions, the purpose of contemplative practice is not to escape life, become detached from the world, or transcend our humanity.

Quite opposite. It is to participate more consciously.

Discovering new truths is cool, but the real flex of personal achievement has been recognizing the structures through which I was unknowingly creating my experience and said “truths”.

Oh, and the part about completely overhauling my life and taking mad fucking ownership of it. That was a neat little side effect.

The invitation of contemplative practice is pretty simple:

Become intimate with experience.

Observe carefully.

Question deeply.

Notice what is being assumed, insisted upon, created, resisted, pursued.

Eventually a different relationship to life begins to emerge. One rooted less in certainty.

Less in identity.

Less in becoming.

More in direct participation.

More in awareness.

More in curiosity.

More in responsibility.

The question that continues to guide my life, my practice, and my work remains the same. It is the same question I like proposing to others:

How am I participating in reality?
How are you participating in reality?

Imagine something for a second.
Picture yourself about to sing your favorite song in front of people, maybe it’s your friends & family, or maybe you’re standing under the bright lights of a stage, facing a crowd of thousands. You start to sing, and you feel yourself come to life as you notice the awe on people’s faces, the cheers and the reactions, the way the room shifts with the sound of your voice. You’re not just hitting each note, you’re feeling the notes, the melodies, every breath with a confidence and precision you’ve never had before. In that moment, you realize this is what you were meant to do. Not just to sing, but to move people, to connect, to make them feel something. But it isn’t just about hitting the right notes or performing, it’s not even about inspiring others. It’s about remembering who you are, it’s about stepping into your light, your power, and embracing your unfiltered self. You get to share your gift with the world in whatever way it naturally expresses itself.

The best part: you don’t need a microphone, a singing voice, or a spotlight to do that.
Life is the stage.
You are the song.
Every day, you’re given the chance to show up as the artist you are, to shape, refine, and share your virtuosity. Every conversation, every decision, every action is a note in your performance. Your masterpiece is already unfolding. Your most vibrant, authentic self is patiently waiting to meet you. It is already done.
